Every bar is made from sorted scrap, tested in our laboratory and marked for identification, under our Ghana Standards Authority licence.
From scrap to certified bar
Scrap recycling and processing
Scrap delivered by collectors is sorted into grades and crushed, which cuts melting time and energy use. Magnets separate out non-ferrous metals and non-metals that would only create slag and pollution.
Melting
Processed scrap is melted in our furnaces to a 1,700 °C liquid, then undergoes ladle treatments such as alloying and degassing to reach the required standard.
Tapping
Molten steel is poured into the ladle, treated further and moved to the continuous casting machine.
Continuous casting
Hot metal flows through a tundish into a water-cooled, oscillating mould. A lubricant stops sticking and traps any remaining slag particles.
Cooling
The strand passes through a spray chamber, supported by water-cooled rollers, until it is fully solid.
Rolling, cutting and marking
Billets pass through nine horizontal and vertical mill stands to reach the required size, are straightened, cut to length by mechanical shears and marked for identification.
Check your bar's batch number
Find the batch (heat) number on the bundle tag and send it to us. Our quality team will confirm it and send you the mill test certificate.

How to spot genuine Rider bars
1. Look for the Rider marking
Rider bars are marked for identification when they are cut to length.
2. Measure the diameter
Use callipers. A 16 mm bar should measure 16 mm, not less.
3. Check the bundle tag
Every bundle carries a tag with its batch number. Verify it above.
4. Buy from authorised distributors
